The School of Education and Humanities, Manav Rachna University organized an academic visit to the Dr. Ambedkar National Memorial, New Delhi on 24 February 2026 for students of Integrated B.A. B.Ed. and B.Sc. B.Ed. (Semester II). The visit was organized as a pedagogical initiative linked with the courses The Indian Constitution and Education in Contemporary India.

The objective of the visit was to provide students with an experiential understanding of constitutional values and the intellectual legacy of B. R. Ambedkar. Through direct engagement with the memorial exhibits, students were able to situate key constitutional ideals such as equality, liberty, fraternity, and social justice within the historical struggles and intellectual contributions of Dr. Ambedkar.

During the visit, students explored various galleries and exhibits that document Ambedkar’s life, writings, and role in drafting the Constitution of India. The displays highlighted his contributions to social reform, his critique of caste-based discrimination, and his vision of an inclusive democratic society. The visit enabled students to move beyond textbook learning and develop a deeper understanding of constitutional ideals as historically grounded and socially transformative ideas.

The academic visit also facilitated discussions around the relationship between education and social justice in contemporary India. Students reflected on how Ambedkar’s ideas continue to influence debates around access, equity, and dignity within educational institutions. Faculty members guided students in connecting the exhibits with concepts discussed in their courses, thereby strengthening the integration of experiential learning with classroom teaching.

To further consolidate their learning, students were assigned a reflective essay (1000–1200 words) as part of the Continuous Evaluation (CE-2) component of the course. The reflective assignment required students to analyse their observations from the memorial and connect them with constitutional values, co

ntemporary educational realities, and their future roles as educators.

The visit proved to be a meaningful academic experience for the students. It encouraged critical reflection on the role of education in promoting constitutional morality and social justice. Overall, the activity successfully contributed to strengthening experiential learning practices within the teacher education programme and enhanced students’ understanding of democratic values and responsible citizenship.
