Language, Literature and Culture
The Manav Rachna School of Education & Humanities recently hosted an engaging and thought-provoking guest lecture on “Language, Literature and Culture as Interconnected Dimensions of Education.” The session brought together 76 participants, creating a vibrant space for academic dialogue, reflection, and intellectual exchange.
We were honored to welcome Prof. Praveen Kumar Anshuman, KIRORIMAL COLLEGE OF EDUCATION, Delhi University as the distinguished speaker. The session was inaugurated by Rashima Vaid Varma, Dean-SoEH, who felicitated the guest and set the tone for an insightful discussion on the role of humanities in shaping meaningful education.
In his compelling address, Prof. Anshuman highlighted how language, literature and culture are deeply interconnected forces that shape human thought, identity and social realities. He emphasized that language goes far beyond vocabulary and grammar—meaning is created through tone, context and expression, reflecting the dynamic and performative nature of communication.
Drawing on the ideas of influential thinkers such as Noam Chomsky, Ferdinand de Saussure, Jacques Derrida, Ludwig Wittgenstein and Bhartrihari, he illustrated how Language structures thought, Literature expands imagination and ethical sensitivity and Culture frames lived experience and values.
The lecture underscored that when these dimensions are meaningfully integrated into pedagogy, education moves beyond mechanical instruction and becomes transformative, nurturing critical thinking, empathy and cultural awareness among learners.
An engaging Q&A session further enriched the discussion, with participants sharing perspectives and raising thoughtful questions that deepened the intellectual exchange.
The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Akhilesh Kumar Dwivedi, acknowledging the speaker and the organizing team for facilitating such a stimulating academic engagement.
